The festival will feature celebrated artistes including Zakir Hussain, Kala Ramnath, Jayanthi Kumaresh and Mame Khan with 47 folk artistes<\/p>\n

New Delhi (India), January 22<\/strong>: After the resounding success of three concerts in Mumbai,\u00a0National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai,\u00a0the country\u2019s premier art and cultural centre, will be visiting Delhi to present two coveted concerts of its annual music festival \u2013 Aadi Anant. With a history of curating high-calibre concerts with stalwarts of Indian music, the 13th edition of the\u00a0Citi\u00a0-NCPA Aadi Anant festival seeks to celebrate the vitality of the\u00a0guru-shishya\u00a0tradition and India\u2019s rich musical traditions.\u00a0It\u00a0features\u00a0artistes of different generations coming together to exhibit genres from classical and semi-classical, to folk and other lighter forms that collectively define the broad spectrum of music traditions in India.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The first concert on the 27th\u00a0of January will present\u00a0Mame Khan with 47 folk artistes; comprising an orchestra of vocalists and\u00a0instrumentalists\u00a0of\u00a0Manganiyar community.\u00a0This evening promises to offer an experience of vibrant folk music of western Rajasthan.\u00a0On the 28th, there will be a unique presentation \u2013\u00a0\u2018Triveni\u2019 featuring Zakir Hussain (tabla) with Kala Ramnath (violin) and Jayanthi Kumaresh (Saraswati\u00a0veena). The curation of this event is based on the mythical site of the union of three sacred rivers in India. The name aptly represents the confluence of the traditions of the three artistes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On taking NCPA\u2019s festival to Delhi, Dr. Suvarnalata Rao, Head of Programming, Indian Music expressed,\u00a0\u201cThe Aadi Anant festival is a representation of the NCPA\u2019s efforts to uphold the country\u2019s rich art, culture and heritage and we are delighted to bring our presentation to Delhi, yet again. It has been a pleasure to join hands with\u00a0Citi\u00a0India and share our passion and commitment to preserve traditions, promote established and emerging talents and enable music education through unique collaborations like Aadi Anant and the Guru-Shishya Program for Indian music. Both shows will be staged at Zorawar Auditorium, Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi at 6:30 pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n
