New Delhi [India], March 28: <\/strong>Casio India Co. Pvt. Ltd., a pioneer in consumer electronics, has launched an ambitious\u00a0Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign<\/strong>\u00a0titled\u00a0\u201cRecycle Responsibly\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0across Delhi NCR. Aimed at combating the growing challenge of electronic waste (e-waste), this initiative seeks to raise awareness and provide easy, accessible recycling services for citizens in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Greater Noida.<\/p>\n

India is currently the\u00a0third-largest e-waste generator<\/strong>\u00a0globally, producing over\u00a03.2 million metric tonnes annually<\/strong>. Alarmingly, a significant quantum of this waste is processed informally, often in unsafe conditions that pose serious environmental and health risks.<\/p>\n

\u201cRecycle Responsibly\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0brings\u00a0recycling to the doorstep of citizens<\/strong>\u00a0through\u00a0seven mobile e-waste collection vehicles<\/strong>. These specially equipped vans will traverse residential areas, marketplaces, offices, and educational institutions, making scheduled stops over a 14-day period. The campaign,\u00a0launched on March 25, 2025, will conclude on April 7<\/strong>, covering key regions within the\u00a0Delhi NCR corridor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Akira Watanabe \u2013 Director\u00a0Casio India<\/strong>, said,\u00a0\u201cAs a responsible corporate citizen, we believe in contributing to environmental sustainability. E-waste is a rising concern, and our campaign aims to educate, engage, and empower communities to act. Through this initiative, we\u2019re not just collecting old electronics \u2014 we\u2019re fostering behavioral change.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Casio India\u2019s environmental efforts align with the Government of India\u2019s\u00a0E-Waste Management Rules (2016, amended)\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0\u2018LiFE \u2013 Lifestyle for Environment\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0movement, promoting mindful consumption over wasteful use. The initiative also reflects Casio\u2019s global sustainability mission, which includes product lifecycle responsibility and green innovation.<\/p>\n

In executing this initiative, Casio India has partnered with\u00a0an NGO \u2013 SHEOWS that in turn has appointed\u00a0Allied Waste Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (AWS), a leader in sustainable waste management. AWS is tasked with operating the collection vans, facilitating community engagement, and ensuring safe, compliant recycling through government-authorized recyclers. Under its\u00a0\u2018Small Act, Big Impact\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>campaign, AWS has long championed individual responsibility towards waste segregation and recycling. The campaign is also supported by SHEOWS, an NGO working at the intersection of social welfare and environmental consciousness.<\/p>\n

The initiative further aims to integrate informal workers, including kabadiwallas, into formal recycling systems through training and collaboration.<\/p>\n

Public participation is central to the campaign\u2019s success. Citizens can locate the mobile collection vans in their area, attend awareness drives, or schedule an e-waste pick-up by calling +91-120-699-3119. The campaign is accepting a wide range of electronic waste \u2014 from mobile phones and laptops to chargers, calculators, and other defunct devices \u2014 irrespective of the brand.<\/p>\n

In addition to physical collection, the campaign will host educational sessions in Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), and commercial zones. These sessions will highlight the risks of improper e-waste disposal and demonstrate how individuals can make eco-conscious decisions. To recognize citizen involvement, contributors will receive participation tokens and public appreciation.<\/p>\n

Casio India\u2019s commitment to sustainability goes beyond this campaign. The company has been steadily integrating eco-friendly practices in its operations, including reduced packaging, energy-efficient manufacturing, and customer outreach programs. The \u2018Recycle Responsibly<\/strong>\u2019 initiative builds upon these efforts by bridging the gap between consumer awareness and direct action.<\/p>\n

The campaign is also a call for long-term behavior change.
